About the Role
We are seeking a full-time Fitness Training & Brand Manager to develop exceptional group fitness experiences and lead training efforts for a growing instructor team. As a manager in the Fitness Department of a young, thriving organization, you’ll ensure all group fitness instructors are delivering the signature S&T experience while contributing to the overall success and growth of the business as a whole.

The ideal candidate is passionate about developing expertly crafted fitness experiences, working collaboratively to create a world-class fitness brand, building positive relationships that support and cultivate top talent, and maintaining structure and organization across the fitness offerings. Experience teaching group fitness classes in HIIT, Yoga, Ride and/or Pilates environments, managing dynamic teams, and leading training programs would be important to having success in this role.

About the Team:
As the Fitness Training & Brand Manager, you’ll report directly to the Fitness Director and Chief Brand Officer. You’ll also work closely with other members of the Fitness and Senior Leadership teams including the Fitness Operations Manager, HIIT & Personal Training Manager, Chief Operations Officer, and Marketing Manager. The instructor team will report to you and the other Fitness department managers.


Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Own Class Experience Standards
    • Identify key elements and contributing factors of the S&T signature class experience. Work with Fitness and Marketing teams to further develop and constantly improve these in order to deliver world-class group fitness experiences.
    • Ensure all fitness offerings are executed at the highest quality level and in a strategic manner that maximizes class attendance and aligns with S&T’s premium brand standards.
  • Lead Instructor Training & Development
    • Formalize class programming standards and develop training programs to ensure class formats and brand standards are being trained and executed consistently.
    • Provide clear communication and training to the instructor team, specifically in relation to the brand standards and signature S&T experience across Yoga, HIIT and Ride studios, across all club locations.
    • Identify and manage existing top-performing instructors to lead the technical aspects of S&T instructor training programs.
  • Support Instructor Recruitment, Onboarding & Engagement
    • Participate in the instructor recruitment & audition process to review potential instructors and provide feedback in regard to skillset and brand fit.
    • Lead onboarding efforts for new instructors in relation to the class experience.
    • Motivate, inspire and build relationships with team members to foster a culture that collaborates, elevates, and belongs.
    • Support instructors to deliver exceptional customer service, build community, and act as Sweat & Tonic brand ambassadors both in and out of class.
    • Work with the Marketing team to engage instructors in promotional events, photo & video shoots, and campaigns.
  • Contribute to Innovation, Optimization & Business Growth
    • Work alongside the Fitness Management team to stay current on industry news and events, and prepare quarterly competitive analysis and research to track trends, drive growth and spark innovation.
    • Collaborate with the Fitness Management team to audit, track, report on, and improve performance of the overall department including HIIT, Yoga, Ride and Personal Training studios.
    • Work alongside the S&T management team to define and execute strategic business goals that continue improving offerings, maximizing revenue, and scaling for growth.

Qualifications for Success in this Role:

  • 5+ years of experience in a management role, ideally in the fitness, hospitality or retail industry
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent leadership and people management skills
  • Experience teaching Yoga, Pilates, HIIT, and/or Ride classes
  • Experience leading and/or coaching a team of 30+ with proven success in achieving organizational goals
  • Collaborative nature with ability to provide feedback in a constructive, motivating way
  • Keen eye for and dedication to upholding details
  • In-depth understanding of and interest in following the fitness industry, both within Toronto and internationally
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in highly pressured roles and environments with ambiguity
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and personally passionate about health and fitness
  • Highly organized, responsible, and trustworthy
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required
  • University degree or experience in Business or Operations is desirable
  • Experience in a start-up environment is desirable
  • This is an in-person position that requires a consistent presence within the studio environment. Local candidates, or candidates willing to relocate to Toronto, are preferred.
