About the Role:

We are seeking a driven and dedicated Studio Manager for our Yonge & Shuter location. Reporting to the COO, the Studio Manager possesses an ownership mentality for the facility, their teams and maintaining an exemplary guest experience. 

The Studio Manager is directly responsible for the FOH and BOH morning, evening and weekend teams and ensures that their teams are appropriately equipped to deliver experience excellence at all times. In addition to hiring, training and retaining these teams, the Studio Manager owns maintenance for the entire facility and will identify, log and see through to completion all one-off and ongoing maintenance and issues. This includes management of A/V resources inside and outside of group fitness studios. You will be responsible for all studio procurement, implementing and maintaining professional storage and inventory tracking solutions. Overseeing the merchandise operation for the facility, you will manage inventory from purchase orders through to receiving, storage, merchandising and ending each month by leading an inventory count and follow up report. You will work cross functionally with other departments to bring to life marketing activations, retail merchandising and ensure the high-level execution of spa services at the facility. You will work with the rest of the management team to help improve other areas of the operation and give feedback on non-direct report employees when necessary.  

The Studio Manager will report on various aspects of the Studio's P&L - playing a pivotal role in meeting and exceeding annual team goals. Key metrics include labour budget, repair and maintenance budget, employee turnover, supplies budgeting to include cleaning resources and guest amenities.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Hire, train and retain top talent in the FOH and BOH teams
  • Compose contracts of employment for all employees, elevating to the COO for final approval
  • Develop FOH and BOH schedules in line with seasonal demands and budgeted labour allocation
  • Lead onboarding efforts to ensure each team member's onboarding experience sets the standard of professionalism and continued excellence 
  • Attend weekly all-manager meeting to report on behalf of Yonge & Shuter location including successes, areas of opportunity and HR updates 
  • Maintain accurate employee records
  • Procure all facility supplies including cleaning equipment and guest amenities including creating purchase orders, counting and receiving orders
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and maintain a regular ordering schedule
  • Coordinate with counterpart at other locations for laundry drop off and pick up system and schedule
  • Coordinate with counterpart to ensure efficient use of shared inventories for supplies, retail and Tonic Bar
  • Meet regularly with counterpart at other location to ensure brand uniformity in guest experience, systems and process
  • Regularly attend classes at the home location and counterpart locations to give feedback and coordinate experience uniformity
  • Identify operational areas of improvement, suggest and implement solutions
  • Report bi-weekly on payroll metrics
  • Report monthly on labour and operational expense budgets
  • Report quarterly on relevant balanced scorecard metrics
  • Identify moments for coaching amongst team, perform progressive corrective action when necessary
  • Perform weekly studio maintenance walk-through ensuring all action items are receiving required attention
  • Maintain studio and common areas to expected level of excellence
  • Make judgment calls on member account administration enquiries. Elevate when appropriate
  • Perform member and non-member de-escalation when the team requires help
  • Identify, monitor, intrervene and report in rare instances when member behaviour is in breach of studio etiquette or code of conduct
  • Work closely with Shift Managers maintaining clear lines of communication, offering support, regular guidance and coaching
  • Stand in for Shift Manager shifts in instances of vacancy and/or sickness

About You:

  • Must have 3+ years of professional experience in sales, business, or related field
  • Must have interest in fitness, health and wellness
  • College or university degree in business or related field is preferred
  • Hospitality experience is an asset
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • An analytical approach and the ability to use quantitative data in decision making
  • Customer service oriented - passionate about problem solving
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to manage time, be available for team including outside of regular working hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends
  • Instinctively knows when in-person presence is required outside of regualr working hours

  • Base salary $60 - $80k per annum dependant on experience
